Watching Four Corners, I was somewhat disappointed by the old spinning logo they had at the beginning of their stories. So I had a go at making a new and updated version in Maya.
First step was to make a nice clean sub-div model of the logo (the old one had visible polygons when up close) and apply a warm metallic material. Using MASH in Maya I also created a “sea” of moving blocks as a dynamic setting for the logo. The block movements were linked to controllers for easy tweaking of speed, wavelength and height.
Rendered out and brought into Davinci Resolve for final colour tweaks and glow effects.
